"Fishing Cape San Blas, St George Island, Apalachicola & Mexico Bech" Tarpon have began showing up along the beaches of Cape San Blas. The big push of fish should begin stacking up in West Pass within the next week. All signs point to an excellent year for the Silver King. Now if we can just get the winds to shut down for a while. Maybe a live sacrifice is in order. I can think of a few excellent candidates. LOL. The bay fishing has been the best it has been in years. All the species (Trout, Reds, Pompano, Spanish and Blues) are well represented. The Triple Tail bite is wide open. Some old timers say it is the best they have seen in 30 years. All in all, it is stacking up to be a great year. Hope you get tp join us. Please feel free to give me a call or shoot us an email if you have any questions. I hope we get to see you at the dock soon. 850-509-0573 Captain Keith Grimes
03/03/08 - Fishing Report Cape San Blas, Apalachicola, St George Island, Mexico Beach
The Indian pass fishing and Apalachicola fishing has been red hot. Plenty of redfish and trout around the bars holes. A fellow fishing guide reported catching trout on virtually every cast on Saturday. Reports of redfish tailing along the bars was great to hear. I scouted the flats in St Joe bay and the beach along Cape San Blas on Sunday from the tower of our new 24' Ranger Bay Boat. Man are you guys going to love this boat. Lots of Sheepshead. Some over 8 lbs. Saw a few trout and fewer redfish. The obvious lack of bait has kept the fish from moving up on the flats. We should start seeing the first schools of bait entering the bay within the next couple of weeks, weather allowing. The arrival of the bait will start the spring fishing season in the bay and along the beaches on Cape San Blas and St George Island. St George Island fishing has been good on the bay side when the winds allow. Nice schools of redfish move onto the flats as the days sun warms the shallow water. With the arrival of the spring bait schools many of these fish will begin moving into the troughs along the beach. A good rule of thumb for the start of the spring fishing season in our area is April 1. The season can start as early as mid March. All in all we have just a few weeks left. If you are thinking of visiting our area and would like to use the services of a professional fishing guide, please give us a call at 850-227-2135. We will make sure that your day on the water is not only fun and exciting but also memorable.
